Amy Smith’s was founded in 1986 by Alex Smith and his wife Amy, who had a passion for confectionery, a love of fudge and all things sweet.
Starting out small, but with big ambitions, Alex and Amy began trading and supplying sweet shops with their delicious range of only eight flavours of fudge and five break up toffees.
Unfortunately, due to ill health, Alex and Amy decided to retire in 1989 and sold the business to Andrew and Jackie Fowler who have continued to develop it over the years. Alexander, their son, joined the family business in 2007 and is now largely in the driving seat and is passionate about all aspects of the business.
In 2002 we moved into new premises on the outskirts of the historic market town of Bawtry, in Yorkshire.
The manufacture of our delicious range of confectionery is now much more efficient as the premises have been purpose built to aid production.
The key to Amy Smith’s ongoing success and it’s highly valued, loyal following of customers is due to our secret recipes. We select only the finest quality ingredients and use no artificial preservatives. These recipes create an unforgettably creamy flavour and smooth consistency, which is rarely found nowadays.
All our confectionery is cooked in traditional copper boiling pans, these are all named and our oldest “Harry”, dates back to 1919! Another boiling pan “Terry” was named after a long-standing and valued toffee maker who sadly passed away after many years of working with us.
Amy Smith’s is a happy place of work and has a wholesome family atmosphere. It would not be the company it is today without the hard working staff who continually strive to give their best with their loyalty, dedication and all round respect for their craft.
